Exodus 7-9

As I reflect on the state of mind the Israelites must’ve been in enslaved to the Egyptian Pharaoh’s forced labor it would have been a despairing and seemingly futile future lacking any hope in the goodness of God. In Exodus 4 Moses performs the miracles God gave him to perform at the burning bush for the Israelites. The result: they believed and worshipped God. But after commanding to Pharaoh that God’s people be let go and the first denial followed with increased brick quotas and no straw supplied, the faith of the Israelites wavers and they speak judgement on Moses and Aaron out of fear.

I am reminded of Psalm 32 this morning and how David writes that safety and protection is found for the faithful righteous who intercede in prayer to the Almighty.

Psalm 32:6-7 (NIV) “Therefore let all the faithful pray to you while you may be found; surely the rising of the mighty waters will not reach them. You are my hiding place; you will protect me from trouble and surround me with songs of deliverance.”

A fundamental biblical principle consistent across scripture is this: God does not destroy the faithful along with the wicked. While it is promised that the righteous man will have many troubles, there is certainty in knowing the LORD delivers him from them all (Psalm 34:9). Just as we have seen God’s hand of faithfulness preserve his people, from Lot, Ishmael, Judah, Joseph
