Psalms 6, 8-10, 14, 16, 19, 21

Great is the Name of the LORD and greatly to be praised! David constantly declares the goodness and greatness, the complete sovereignty of YAHWEH in his psalms of praise, worship and thanksgiving unto the LORD.

Psalm 8:1 (NIV) "LORD, our Lord, how majestic is your name in all the earth!"

Psalm 9:10 (NIV) "Those who know your name trust in you, for you, LORD, have never forsaken those who seek you."

In the manuscript tradition of old the Holy Name of the God of the Bible, YAHWEH would be written as 'Lord' but in all capital letters so that any time the word LORD is written it can be understood to be YAHWEH. Over time YAHWEH was substituted entirely with the word LORD which can shroud and hide the true name of our God, whose name is to be made known and is majestic in all the earth just as David proclaims in his psalms. There is power in The Name because of YAHWEH's good, loving and gracious character, equally there is healing power in the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth. When Jesus sent out his 12 disciples during his ministry on earth he gave them power and authority to: 1) drive out all demons 2) cure diseases and heal the sick 3) proclaim the kingdom of God. In Acts 3 We see Peter and John function in this kingdom authority and heal a lame beggar at the 'Beautiful' temple gate in the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth. There is power in the Name of Jesus, the Holy Name of the God we serve: YAHWEH, is great and mighty to be praised - our God reigns.

In these end times we are living I have been compelled to spend even more time in continuous praise and prayer, calling heaven down to earth through glorifying the sovereignty of God and communing closely with him through prayer. More and more I find myself singing songs that align with the voices in heaven who proclaim:

Revelation 4:8, 11 (NIV) "Holy, holy, holy is the LORD God Almighty, who was, and is, and is to come... You are worthy, our LORD and God, to receive glory and honor and power, for you created all things, and by your will they were created and have their being."
